Are These Candy Wrappers Pornographic?

Here's today's wacky food news, thanks to Parentdish.com: A British dad was out shopping for candy for his sons when he noticed the wrappers on Haribo brand Maoam sour candies. According to him, "The lemon and lime are locked in what appears to be a carnal encounter," adding, "The lime, whom I assume to be the gentleman in this coupling, has a particularly lurid expression on his face."

Ha! Really? Well, maybe. See for yourself:

When you put it *that* way, sure, it looks pretty incriminating. I don't think that's the first thing I'd think of, though; I'd think, "Gee, that's kind of a weird cartoon. What is that supposed to be??" But maybe I'm just really naive. Also, keep in mind that Haribo is a German brand (the same folks who brought us Gummi Bears), and you know how wacky that German sense of humor can be!

Here's another Maoam candy wrapper:

Now this one just looks like some fruits having some innocent fun, as fruits tend to do. It's pretty cute, actually -- it's like the cherries are happy dogs or kids jumping on their owner or dad. Nothing lurid there -- in my opinion. What's your take?

Are these candy wrappers pornographic?

  • No way!
  • Definitely
  • Hmm...I'm not sure

The Lemon is being PUSHED AWAY by the LIME ! You have to see the way the hands are positioned. I don't think I'd want a lemon that close to me either!

Like Teri said, they were weren't until it was pointed out. Of course, I grew up in Europe and this is what one sees. There aren't nearly the hangups about sex and the human body that there are in the U.S. :(

That's just wrong.

James Joyce said, "Pornography is that which arouses but does not satisfy." Do you think that meets the criteria?
