Cook Up Eggs Inspired by 'Julie & Julia'
So this movie coming out next Friday, Julie & Julia, is *everywhere*. It's been written up and referred to in the New York Times numerous times, there are ads and previews on websites, buses and TV, tons of food blogs have been giving away tickets for screenings... for foodies everywhere, it'll definitely be the movie of the summer. It's even inspired prominent chefs to expound on their love of Julia Child, and to create recipes in her spirit and style.
Here's a video from chef Mark Peel from Los Angeles' Campanile, a favorite of Julia Child's and one of the most renowned restaurants in L.A. (You might have also caught him on an episode of Top Chef Masters.) He makes "Scrambled Eggs for Daphne" (his wife), and it's a super easy way of making eggs that takes just a couple minutes. For the recipe, you'll need:
- About 3 tablespoons butter
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- About 2 tablespoons half-and-half
- Pecorino cheese for grating
- Toasted baguette slices and a small sprig of basil, for serving
Watch the video to check out Mark's technique for making delicious, creamy, easy scrambled eggs.
