A Peeler with Appeal

soft_peeler.jpgHere's the niftiest gadget I've found in awhile -- the Zyliss peeler for soft-skinned fruits and vegetables. It easily removes the skin from soft foods like pears, kiwi and even tomatoes without removing or even damaging the flesh underneath, thanks to its sharp serrated blade. Removing the skin from tomatoes is no joke -- the usual method is to score an "x" in the bottom of each tomato and drop in boiling water for a few seconds until the skin loosens, then use a paring knife to peel off the skin piece by piece. It's a tedious process, but with this ingenious little gadget, peeling tomatoes is no longer a chore. I can't wait to see what else this guy can tackle...
